Progress & Development Videos.
I bought a brand new microphone today because I thought it would be a good Idea to start making progress and development video logs. I know when I'm excited about a video game I can't stop watching the development videos. It could be because I'm a developer and I am interested in that kind of content, but I also believe many other people find it interesting also. The videos could be on YouTube or there is always the option of making them private to these posts. If you're interested or want to see this kind of content please let me know!
Northern Regime Progress.
Development has been going really well and I'll go into that. Right now we have "maybe" run into an issue. When I play Northern Regime through steam I get around 100-120 frames per second, when others play or at least just my friend gets only 30-40 frame per second. It could just be a problem with his computer and Northern Regime or a problem with Northern Regime itself. That still doesn't make a lot of sense, why would I get 120 and him only 40. I'm going to be launching a free play week soon. That should help get feed back so I can resolve these strange problem.
Development has been progressing very fast lately and I am really loving it. Crafting has evolved and so has mining resources. There is still a lot more I want to do with mining, there needs to be more audio effects for mining. When you pick up something now it isn't instant. Before clicking on an item (Mining) you would get it right away. I want it to be really easy to get an abundance of materials but I don't want it to be fast. A few builds ago there were very few resources and it just made it really hard and annoying, this makes it a really solid balance between the two, I think. A few things I am going to work on tonight is loop drops especially with enemies and deer. When killing a deer it drops to a rag doll then you have to click it to get your meat. The problem with this is the area where you need to click is not where the deer is, it's where the deer died which is really confusing for new players. To make it easier we are just going to have a bunch of meat drop when you kill the deer. This will just be for now until we get animations for butchering and harvesting it'll then be a little more realistic. We have fire in the game now. You collect materials, craft a fire pit, place it, and then ignite it. Before you just had to drink coffee to increase temperature. We are going to be working on our crafting UI it's a little messy and confusing right now.
